A three-storey immersive installation, constructed from 8,000 coloured discs on 650 cables for a lobby atrium of a building on King Street in the City of Kitchener
Sixpenny provided design consultation, fabrication and installation for this award winning piece

-
Custom made steel ceiling brackets to support 650 cables
Stainless steel aircraft cable with copper crimps
Approximately 8,000 discs made from 3/16” coloured acrylic
-
Sixpenny worked with Dubbeldam to create a parametric model of the installation to balance the colour shift and gradient
This model was broken down into strand sequences and used to organize all the parts to achieve the gradient effect
We pre-assembled all of the strands using custom tooling
Install was completed over a number of days in the fall of 2020
